Location: Columbus, Ohio
Responsibilities:
• Works with the management team of assigned area to determine the best methods for recruiting and offering guidance and assistance to the recruiting function as requested.
• Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions in assigned area to include, but not limited to: creating job postings, scheduling interviews, conducting phone interviews, conducting pre-employment background checks, sending acknowledgment letters to applicants, and making offers to applicants.
• Attends/participates in college job fairs and recruiting opportunities as needed.
• Prepares onboarding plans in conjunction with the hiring manager’s training plans.
• Ensures new hire paperwork is completed accurately and works with managers and employees on any missing information. Get appropriate approvals and submit to payroll. Scan and file into personnel files.
• Enter I-9 information into E-Verify ensuring that I-9’s are accurate and timely.
• Track personnel changes.
• Conducts onboarding check-ins during new hires first year, ensuring employee engagement, identifying training opportunities, and reviewing policies and procedures, etc.
• Administers Workers Compensation to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies as well as being a liaison between injured employees, company, and WC carrier. This also includes, but is not limited to: submitting injury information to WC insurance carriers, collecting and following up with necessary parties regarding ensuring all paperwork is completed and received in a timely manner, ensuring a safety assessment was completed and information shared with the Director of Safety, Facilities, and Assets, follow-up and ongoing communication with the injured employee, track WC injuries on WC spreadsheet and maintain files, and ensure all BWC notices are posted at all locations.
• Participate on safety committee meetings when requested.
• Ensure OSHA compliance, including completion and posting of OSHA logs and OSHA annual reporting.
• Complete separation checklist and conducts exit interviews with terminated employees.
• Document and track employee relations issues.
• Scan and file personnel documents into ADP for assigned area.
• Provide back-up and support to the other HR Generalist and HR Manager as needed.
• Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, talent management and employment law.
• Assist with providing training and guidance to the management team on best practices as it relates to the federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
• Assist with administration of training as needed.
• Complete and submit EEO-1 report.
• Administer the semi-annual service award program.
• Update and maintain the employee directory and org chart.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.
• SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred.
• Ability to travel throughout the mid-west.
• Minimum of 2 years of HR experience with emphasis in recruiting required.
• Prior experience in recruiting for both exempt and non-exempt positions required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of employment laws.
• Experience in Workers Compensation preferred.
• Excellent communication skills for engaging with employees at all levels of the organization.
• Must have demonstrated ability to multi-task, excellent time-management skills, and be team oriented.
• Knowledge/background in agriculture preferred.
