Agricultural Lender
Reports to: Vice President - Credit,
Employment type: Full-time, 40+ hours, Exempt
General Description
The purpose of this position is to provide leadership to Producers Credit Corporation in its lending activities with livestock producers including servicing existing customers and to secure new business. This position is responsible for day-to-day participation in credit activities including new business development, on-farm visits and inspections, credit analysis and loan documentation, monitoring loan performance, and providing timely customer service.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Soliciting and developing new loan customers in support of annual plan and goals.
2. Demonstrate quality workmanship in credit analysis, verification of information, loan documentation and overall credit administration in accordance with PCC policy.
3. Meet all quarterly and annual sales goals/performance requirements
4. Demonstrate quality workmanship in credit analysis, verification of information, loan documentation, and overall credit administration in accordance with PCC policy.
5. Administer loan servicing actions in accordance with PCC policy and procedures.
6. Perform farm on-site inspections and valuation of collateral.
7. Monitor loan performance in conjunction with the PCC staff and UPI branch personnel.
8. Monitor and service past-due loan payments and branch receivables and implement corrective plans in a timely manner.
9. Maintain knowledge of all segments of the livestock industry (beef, swine, sheep), including price trends in the feeders and finished livestock, grain prices, production costs and feeding margins.
10. Maintain knowledge of crop production and market trends relating to farm machinery, farm building and land values.
11. Work closely with the PCC staff and United Producers, Inc. branches
12. Ability to work as a team.
Work and Skill Requirements
1. 10+ years of verifiable successful experience in commercial Ag lending.
2. 10+ years experience managing a loan portfolio with a strong emphasis in agriculture
3. Strong oral and written communication skills, able to skillfully interact with customers and team members.
4. Strong sales and presentation skills.
5. Proven success in business development.
6. Cross selling products and services.
7. A strong commitment to providing high-quality customer service.
8. The ability to relate to farmers, analyzes their financial needs, and develops solutions.
9. The ability to exercise good judgment in terms of assessing the reasonableness of loan requests, economic feasibility of the proposed loan, and the borrower’s management ability and integrity.
10. Strong analytical skills.
11. Skilled in computer usage with experience in Microsoft Office programs. Must be able to demonstrate strong skills in Word, Excel and Outlook.
12. Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner.
13. Routine business travel of approximately 50% along with occasional overnight travel.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Ag Business or Animal Science strongly preferred.
