UPI Begins Operations of New Facility in Bowling Green, Ky.
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.—United Producers Inc. (UPI) is pleased to announce that effective Oct. 1, 2009, they began leasing a new livestock marketing facility as well as expanding services in Bowling Green, Ky. and the surrounding area. This facility will provide farmers in southern Kentucky with a weekly livestock auction and access to a full menu of livestock marketing, risk management and financial services.
The facility, formerly Barren River Livestock Center, will be leased and managed by UPI. UPI will provide full livestock marketing services, while enhancing these services with additional programs for members. The facility will be selling dollar calves, head bulls and cows, light feeders, graded cattle, single cattle and fed cattle in that order every Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. CST. The first sale will be Oct. 6. United Producers-Bowling Green will also have a goat and sheep sale the second Thursday of each month beginning at 5 p.m. CST.

In addition to livestock marketing, UPI offers a full range of additional programs and services for UPI members. UPI’s goal is to provide necessary marketing services on a cooperative basis to their members that will improve their income and allow them to be competitive in the industry. Services range from commodity hedging to source and verification programs as well as financial services for livestock, operating capital, equipment and real estate. United Producers-Bowling Green will be having an open house on Oct. 19. Dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. CST and a presentation will follow highlighting new features available from the cooperative.
