The Ohio Livestock Coalition has created a new program focusing on how Ohio livestock farmers help feed our communities, our state and our world. The educational program – called For Your InFARMation – will help third-grade students better understand where their food comes from.
The eight-page student booklet contains colorful, eye-catching images of Ohio livestock farming and supports Ohio academic content standards for social studies, language arts, math and science. The teacher’s guide includes complete lesson plans, worksheets and a listing of additional resources available from commodity group partners. All For Your InFARMation materials were developed in consultation with a curriculum consultant who is also a practicing third-grade teacher.
Additionally, as part of the curriculum, students can participate in an essay contest that will award a free, all-expenses-paid field trip to an Ohio livestock farm during the 2009-2010 school year for the winning essay’s entire class.
The materials are free of charge and available at http://www.ForYourInFARMation.com.
Please encourage local third-grade teachers to visit the site and download the materials today!
